Pray for the Prophets: A Call to Stand in the Gap
By James W. Goll
One of the great privileges we carry in the Global Prayer Storm is the call to be watchmen on the wall – intercessors who perceive the times and respond with heaven-aligned prayer. This month, I sense a strong urgency from the Holy Spirit: It’s time to pray for the prophets.
Our theme is drawn from Amos 3:7: “Surely the Lord God does nothing unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.”
Let’s not gloss over that. The Lord doesn’t act until He first speaks. And to whom does He speak? Not to celebrities. Not to influencers. But to His servants – the prophets.
Why Pray for the Prophets?
Prophets are forerunners, often carrying the burden of spiritual warfare on behalf of the Church. They are uniquely sensitive, deeply gifted, and at times profoundly vulnerable.
That’s why we intercede:
- To shield them from spiritual warfare and distraction
- That the Word of the Lord would come forth with purity
- To help them stand in the gap as intercessors, not just messengers
- That they model both humility and maturity—not self-promotion
- Because “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18)
- To see a Word and Spirit convergence that births authentic apostolic movements (Acts 13)
- And because prophets are breakers—those who open the way for the King of Glory (Micah 2:13)
Prophets Need Shields Too
I’ve often said: prophets are called to intercede for others. But that’s exactly why we must intercede for them. Even Paul the Apostle said, “Pray for me” (Ephesians 6:19).
If Paul needed a shield of prayer, how much more do today’s prophets?
Many prophets are carrying heavy spiritual loads—revelatory burdens, divine assignments, words they can’t yet release. And some are simply weary.
The warfare is real. But the breakthrough is, too.
Day to Pray for the Prophets
Friday, July 18, 2025
7:00–9:00 PM Central
Live on James W. Goll YouTube and God Encounters Facebook
This two-hour online event will bring together prayer leaders, networks, and nations. It’s a seed we planted last year, and it’s beginning to take root. I believe this could one day be part of the global prayer calendar—like a national day to pray for pastors, but for prophetic voices across the earth.
We’ll also provide a 10-Day Prayer Guide leading up to the event to equip you and your community.
Resource Highlights:
“Standing Strong in the Anointing” – A foundational resource on navigating supernatural encounters with maturity
“The Prophet” – A call to create and sustain a life-giving prophetic culture
Let’s pray that prophets would not only hear clearly but walk humbly… That they would be friends of God above all else… That the Lord would raise up a company of mature voices who carry both Word and Spirit in fullness… That we would together break open the way for the King of Glory.
Blessings,

A Prayer for The Prophets
Heavenly Father, we lift up Your prophets – those called to hear, see, and speak on behalf of the King. According to Amos 3:7, reveal Your secrets to Your servants. Strengthen them with the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:13–18), that they may stand in the evil day. Let the spirit of wisdom and revelation rest upon them (Ephesians 1:17), and may the fear of the Lord guide their steps (Isaiah 11:2). Shield them from distraction and harm. Let purity, humility, and boldness mark their voice. Raise up mature messengers who walk as friends of God.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
