A Prophetic Call for Greater Discernment in the
Midst of Confusion
By James W. Goll – May 21, 2025
“Someone living on an entirely human level rejects the revelations of God’s Spirit,
for they make no sense to him. He can’t understand the revelations of the
Spirit because they are only discovered by the illumination of the Spirit.”
1 Corinthians 2:14 (TPT)
Dear Friends,
I don’t say this lightly: we are navigating a maze – one shaped by political agendas, media confusion, and religious alignments. But in this fog, the Holy Spirit is releasing a prophetic call: Let discernment win.
In this latest Global Prayer Storm, I found myself stirred with an urgency that I couldn’t fully articulate – yet I knew it was from God. Sometimes we speak what we don’t fully understand, but the spirit of revelation comes in the process. And I believe He’s saying: “It’s time for the discernment level to rise in the prayer movement.”
The Political and Religious Spirit
Throughout history, we’ve seen the religious and political spirits join forces to oppose God’s purposes. The same alliance that conspired against Jesus in Mark 3:6 and Luke 23:9 – 11 is still active today. These spirits seek to manipulate, shame, and control. They push false narratives, distract intercessors, and dull our spiritual perception.
But the Holy Spirit is calling us to pierce through the fog. You can’t discern these forces with natural senses – they must be spiritually discerned (1 Cor. 2:14). When chaos reigns, when things look like disaster, don’t assume. Ask God what’s really going on.
A Call for Mature Intercession
As Hebrews 5:14 tells us, “Solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to discern good from evil.” That’s the call: trained, seasoned discernment – not shallow opinions or headline reactions.
Whether it’s presidents, prophets, or policy-makers, we must pray for leaders through the lens of the Holy Spirit, not personal bias or media spin. I shared concerns about the Abraham Accords, political alliances, bribes, and the spirit behind certain public events – not to cast judgment, but to provoke prayerful processing.
We must become a people who do not just bless with our mouths, but pray by discernment.
Discernment Is Increasing
This is not a message of fear – it’s a call to clarity. God is increasing the spirit of living understanding. I believe evil plans are about to be flushed out. I believe voices of wisdom – like Marco Rubio and others – will rise with counsel and courage.
Let us posture ourselves in humility. Let us pray for Biden, for Trump, for the Middle East, for wisdom, and for revival. Let us not assume, but discern. And above all –
Let discernment win.
In Jesus’ mighty name,
James W. Goll
A Prayer for Greater Discernment
Father of Light,
I come before You asking for a spirit of wisdom and revelation (Ephesians 1:17). Open the eyes of my heart to see what You are doing and hear what You are saying.
Increase the gift of discernment in my life – not for criticism, but for alignment with Your will. Let me pray with clarity and walk in truth.
Expose hidden agendas – for nothing is concealed that won’t be revealed (Luke 8:17). Help me stand as one who watches, listens, and intercedes.
May I run my race with faith, finish well, and bring You glory.
In Jesus’ mighty name,
Amen.
